Yesterday, Southwark Council resolved to grant plannig permission for the regeneration of the Tustin Estate on the Old Kent Road. The scheme will be referred to the GLA, but LBE planning committee approved the hybrid planning appication for 690 new homes, comprising 249 replacement homes for existing residents, reprovision of existing businesses and Pilgrim's Way School plus the construction of 441 new homes. The scheme includes refurbishment, replacement and new homes with approximately 70% afordable tenure.
The new dwellings will be car-free but existing residents will be able to retain their parking permits, subject to a longer-term plan to reduce parking across the site. The entire scheme was designed using TfL's Healthy Streets approach to promote walking and cycling as a first choice of transport.
Entran provided Transportation and Environmental consultancy services on this interesting project and are delighted with Southwark's decision.
