Yesterday the Planning Inspectorate allowed an appeal by Weylands Investments Limited against the decision of Elmbridge Council to refuse planning permission for for a commercial led mixed-use development on the former Weylands Treatment Works in Hersham, Surrey.
The hybrid application was for a phased masterplan to deliver a mixed-use redevelopment comprising commercial (Class E/B2/B8) and Sui Generis WEEE recycling, and affordable housing.
The application has been refused against officer recommendation due to Green Belt issues and Section 106 matters relating to affordable housing and impact on the highway network. Surrey County Council as County Highway Authority had not raised any objections but the local community were concerned about the residual traffic impact. Consequently, Entran Director, Richard Fitter gave expert evidence at the Public Inquiry in March.
Entran have been involved with this site since 2011 so it is very good news that a deliverable planning permission has been granted and the regeneration of this site can go ahead.
