As previously reported, Entran were delighted to be acting as highway consultants as part of the Barratt design team that achieved planning permission at Orchard View, Whitchurch. The application was approved at appeal as the Inspector felt that there was no realistic prospect of the By-pass being delivered in a timely fashion and found therefore that it was inappropriate to continue to safeguard land for the A37 Whichurch By-pass. The Inspector concluded “In terms of the Framework, given that Policies T.17, GB.4 and GB.1 must be considered out of date, and my conclusion on the likelihood of the A37 Whitchurch By-pass ever coming forward, the adverse impact of granting permission does not outweigh the benefits inherent in the proposal”

Via a Public Inquiry, Barratts have successfully achieved planning permission for a 47 dwelling residential development on land safeguarded for the A37 By-pass. The inspector concluded that as they relate to the A37 By-pass that LP Policies T.17, GB.4 and GB.1 must be considered out of date and that the likelihood of the A37 Whitchurch By-pass ever coming forward in a timely manner was remote.
