If it ever stops raining in the UK, some of us might dust off our trusty bicycles and start commuting by bike again. However, many people are deterred by distance or hills, and therefore tend to jump into their car by default. But perhaps an e-bike would be cheaper, healthier, greener and . . . more fun?

Yesterday, the Government released a new Technical Advice Leaflet (TAL 1/24) entitled Motorcyclists using bus lanes. TAL 1/24 was released to remind local highway authorities of their existing powers and in fact states that "wherever it is appropriate, local councils SHOULD allow motorcyclists to use bus lanes."

Today, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Local Government, Simon Hoare MP, on behalf of the Secretary of State has decided to grant planning permission for over 1000 new homes and 1200sq.m of commercial and community floorspace in Cricklewood.
